The students had the opportunity to have a glance of the major results carried out by the ongoing DORII project and to directly put into practice what they learnt during the sessions. Chances to participate in discussions and to develop new ideas were particularly welcome by the participants, who were able to collate their working experiences with the recent developments accomplished within the DORII e-Infrastructure. The beauties of the surrounding areas were a perfect framework for the whole event.

Die International GridKa-School wurde 2003 ins Leben gerufen und versteht sich als eine der führenden Summer Schools für Grid Computing und eScience. Die GridKa-School bietet eine große Bandbreite an Themen und richtet sich durch parallele Workshops und Hands-on Tutorials an sehr unterschiedliche Zielgruppen, wie z.B. Grid-Anfänger, fortgeschrittene User und Administratoren, Wissenschaftler und andere Benutzer des Grids sowie fortgeschrittene Studierende, Doktoranden und Postdocs, die sich mit Grid Computing beschäftigen. Dabei unterstützt SuGI die Aufzeichnung von Vorträgen und Workshops im Rahmen der GridKa-School, die auf dem SuGI-Schulungportal zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

Schulung des PT-Grid Projekts

Web services enable numerous scientific and business applications, especially in Grid and Cloud computing. A one-day course offered by the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) on *June 15*th will provide an introduction to web services in the grid context and the essentials needed for the development of new services using tools included in the Globus Toolkit 4. Web services will be reviewed, delineating their essential components and corresponding methods for implementation. The WS resource framework takes into account grid-specific requirements like stateful resources and security. Its implementation in GT 4.0 will be demonstrated by a series of examples. A hands-on session will allow the participants to generate and modify some of these simple services.

Ziel des Workshops ist die Vermittlung technischer Grid-Grundlagen im Kontext der Nutzung der MediGRID-Infrastruktur. Die Teilnehmer werden im Rahmen von Vorträgen und aktiven Übungen mit den Inhalten vertraut gemacht.
