Zusammenfassung:

Glassfish is the open source application server from Sun Microsystems. It is the reference implementation of Java EE 5 but at the same time designed for running mission critical applications in production environments which need high performence, scalability and reliability. The presentation gives an overview and touches on some of the most interesting features of Glassfish. It highlights Metro, the web services implementation of JAX-WS which is bundled with it and reveals where the next generation application server Glassfish V3 is heading. The hands-on session shows on a step-by-step basis how a simple composite application that uses WS-BPEL can be built and deployed in a JBI container running on Glassfish and using the SOA-Tooling provided by Netbeans 6.1. The lab will help to familiarize the attendees with WS-BPEL and its support in Netbeans and how it can be used to do synchronous and asynchronous message processing and other common tasks, expected from this programming language.
